Editors get academic credit for correspondence written by others
Two editors of an Elsevier journal are receiving academic credit for three letters to the editor (LTEs — here, here, and here) written by others.
The three examples from Fisheries Research are all very recent — one isn’t “published” until October 2025 because of course that makes all the sense in the world when nothing makes sense anymore — and there seems to be a growing unease with the format, with the most recent sporting a blue star which opens an explanatory window when clicked:

Yet, the “authors” of the letters are listed as the editors of the journal, and the receipt and acceptance dates are identical, suggesting the submissions occurred when the editors simply checked a finalized and formatted document holding all the letters into the editorial system:
