Friday Song: “Consume”

One last song from The Warning this year — a banger from their concert film

The Warning released a fantastic concert film this past summer (The Warning Live From Auditorio Nacional, CDMX), which was recorded during their three-show sellout in February 2025. The film is now making its way to streaming and Blu-Ray.

I saw the film when it was released in August. Watching it again at home earlier this week was like viewing another cut of the film for some reason — it was even more exciting and joyous than the first time, and I came away even more impressed by the staging, music, and performers. What a band!

“Consume” is off the band’s 2024 album, Keep Me Fed, their fourth full album. The song contains the album’s title in its lyrics, some of which are presented below so you can track them when Pau fires them off in rapid succession:

You greedy little f*cker
You sink your teeth in, bleed me out, look for another
Dressed up for slaughter, but you keep it undercover
Lips painted and parted, alone and unguarded
You willingly participate
You crack a smile and close your eyes and disassociate
Blaming the problem, but you know you’re still a part of it
You hate that you’re part of it, hate that you’re part of it

Pau is Paulina, the band’s drummer with the perfect name for a drummer. She was just voted “Drummer of the Year” at Modern Drummer.

  • Her guest drummer here is Johnny Tuosto, a “a New York bred, Italian fed drummer” from Los Angeles. In the film, his appearance is attended by winsome drama.

Ale (Alejandra), the bassist in the band, just turned 21 last week. Dani (Daniella) is on guitar and the main singer, but they can all sing as you can tell from the frequent harmonies, a trademark of their music, and how smoothly they all navigate the belt-brass-breath triad, even adding distortion (Dani) to really nail the emotion. They can all play their instruments at the highest level. They can all write songs that endure — they could easily put on another full concert of originals fans would eat up. They can all perform like top-notch rock stars, because that’s what they are.

  • Dani’s playing the famous “rose” PRS guitar female guitar legend Orianthi gifted her just weeks before.

They do everything at the highest level . . . yet this is a very young band.

Have no hesitation — it’s conspicuous consumption season, so enjoy!

You’ve been Warned!
