Today’s podcast is with Seth Leopold, an orthopaedic surgeon and Editor-in-Chief of Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research, also known as CORR, a top journal in orthopaedic surgery.
Seth and Kent got to know each other over the years thanks to their roles with orthopaedic publishers. Since then, they’ve collaborated on a paper and discussed numerous aspects of scientific publishing. Seth remains interested in developments in the publishing world, and keeps close track of what is going on, always testing claims and assertions to make sure they hold up, as you’ll hear.
Orthopaedics is one of the few scientific disciplines where top journals will not accept preprinted articles. Their editorial office is also grappling with AI slop LTEs and having to buy technology to thwart technology, just to name a few topics we discuss.
