The “Impossible” Preprints

The winner of the Nobel Prize for mRNA vaccines finds more flaws for Krumholz

I know I’ve been harping on Harlan Krumholz a lot, but I still am feeling like he deserves it for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is his participation in a flawed set of preprints featuring MAHA-linked inexpert co-authors based on surveys of a group without blinding which later became a support group around “vaccine injury” concepts.

These preprints became major fodder for ACIP and FDA misinformation last month.

In an interview published September 20, 2025, which just came across my desk, Drew Weissman — who shared the 2023 Nobel Prize in Physiology for his work on mRNA vaccines for Covid-19 — refutes these preprints directly, with the journalist adding what feels like a telling quote from one of the other Yale co-authors.
