Review: “Everything’s Falling”
A band approaching peak form ends summer with a killer new album

Why?
Because Everything’s Falling is one hell of an album.
The first completely new album released since I became an avid fan of the Warning, three of the songs were released early. On top of playing the recordings often in the lead up to the August 28th album release, I was able to hear all three performed live in New York City in June.
Delightfully, in the context of the overall album, they hit harder because they’re part of a larger and excellent whole.
On this album, the band is sounding more feminine in every dimension — from rage to doubt to sass to fun to intimacy, but all with a clearly feminine twist. The artwork tips their hand, and the album shows the cards — all Queens of Hearts, Spades, Clubs, and Diamonds.
Best of all, the band is completely on fire in these recordings. It’s also clear to see performances were on their minds during composition, as these songs will translate perfectly to the stage, as the video below shows when “Bite My Tongue” was captured at a stop in South Korea.
Dany continues to prove why she’s one of the premier rock singers working today. Listen carefully to the break on the title track — she uses her breath to get right up into your brain. Pau’s drumming crushes, and she weaves in so many new little tricks and licks it’s hard to keep track, especially because you’re probably going to be too busy being blown back on your ass when she lands the beats so precisely. Ale’s bass roars and supports and weaves and teases throughout. The sisters’ harmonies are gorgeous.
I’ve listened to the album on my phone, through my pods, in my car, through headphones, and on my main stereo at volume, and I would recommend the last two sources to isolate the pristine production and subtle touches throughout. This music rewards attention.
The Warning continues to crush. They don’t shy away from a killer or fun riff, they bring power and flair to every song, they are great players and singers, and their songs are excellent.
There’s even more cowbell.
